Mitch is right down there with Newt (the salamander) Gingrich on the list of truly abominable people who had FAR too much power and FAR too little conscience.
Kevin McCarthy’s latest conspiracy is that Nancy Pelosi wanted rioters in the Capitol looking to kill her
Now, McCarthy is telling Fox News that Pelosi is to blame because she didn’t demand that the National Guard be at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. The rally was at The Ellipse, just south of the White House and about a mile and a half from the U.S. Capitol. For a city that is only 68 square miles in area total, anything over a mile is further away than in normal areas.
The National Guard was called to be on hand by the D.C. mayor and were near the Ellipse, where the rally was. No one knew that Trump was going to tell his crowd of people to march to the U.S. Capitol, tear it apart and attempt to assassinate Vice President Mike Pence and Pelosi.
In fact, Trump’s own staff didn’t know, because in the speech that they wrote for Trump that day, the call to walk to the Capitol wasn’t written. Trump made it up as he stood there.
What’s really amazing is how the Republican voters accept whatever they say on any given day. It doesn’t matter how much it contradicts what the Republican politicians said the day before. They will change their thoughts on any subject without any cognitive acknowledgement of the contradiction. That is what brainwashing does to a person.
This is long but worth reading if you think vaccines are bunk.USA TODAY’I’m sorry, but it’s too late’ – unvaccinated patients beg for shot; new infections nearly triple in two weeks: COVID newsJohn Bacon and Jorge L. Ortiz, USA TODAYWed, July 21, 2021, 7:35 PM·9 min read
An Alabama physician glumly says she is making “a lot of progress” in encouraging people to vaccinate – as she struggles to keep them alive.
Dr. Brytney Cobia, a hospitalist at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, wrote in a recent Facebook post she is treating a lot of young, otherwise healthy people for serious coronavirus infections.
“One of the last things they do before they’re intubated is beg me for the vaccine,” she wrote. “I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late.”
In her post, Cobia wrote that when a patient dies, she hugs their family members and urges them to get vaccinated. She said they cry and tell her they thought the pandemic was a “hoax,” or “political,” or targeting some other age group or skin color.
“They wish they could go back. But they can’t,” Cobia wrote. “So they thank me and they go get the vaccine. And I go back to my office, write their death note, and say a small prayer that this loss will save more lives.”
Cobia was pregnant when she battled COVID-19 last summer, and she had a low-grade fever, sore throat, fatigue, congestion and sneezing. She spent a weekend with other family members – and eight of them ultimately tested positive for the virus, including her husband. Most suffered more severe symptoms than she did, she said.
“The fear that I feel for myself and my unborn baby is bad enough, but the guilt that I feel for exposing people that trusted me is what I want to focus on,” she wrote in a Facebook post at the time. “Don’t be me. Don’t wear a mask everywhere else in the world EXCEPT around your core.”
Here’s the real reason Republicans suddenly seem to be taking COVID seriously
All this shows is that GOP politicians and pundits still know how to manipulate the mainstream press’s endless desire to believe the Republicans aren’t really as bad as the #resistance tweeters are saying. But while clips of prominent Republicans saying pro-vaccine stuff might be enough to get the press off their backs — or keep Biden from accusing them of “killing people,” as he did (correctly) to Facebook — it won’t be enough to actually get vaccine-hostile Republican voters to change their minds. Indeed, this should be understood more as a P.R. move to quell press criticism than a sincere effort to get reluctant people to get vaccinated.
Unlike most journalists — who merely watch clips from Fox News, often ones pre-selected for them by the Fox News P.R. team — Matt Gertz at Media Matters and Aaron Rupar at Vox actually put in the miserable work of watching entire shows on the network. And both reported on Tuesday that, despite the hype around Hannity’s viral clip, the overall tenor of Fox News this week has still been that getting the vaccine is a very bad thing that no red-blooded Republican worth his MAGA hat should ever do. Indeed, the out-of-context Hannity clip comes from an episode that was overall anti-vaccine. The Hannity clip “came in the middle of a segment in which he railed against colleges and universities that are requiring their students to get their shots,” Gertz writes. He also points out that Hannity’s show “is bracketed between those of Carlson and Laura Ingraham,” and both of those hosts went hard on the vaccines-are-terrible-and-doctors-are-lying-to-you messaging.
Tucker Carlson hit with brutal backlash after attacking Capitol Police officer: He ‘has not served a day in uniform’
The attorneys for U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn issued a blistering statement slamming Tucker Carlson and Fox News after the host accused their client of being a political pawn. The Fox News host called the officer attacked during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol “an angry left-winged political activist” on Wednesday.
Tonight Fox News allowed its host Tucker Carlson, who has not served a day in uniform, whether military or law enforcement, to criticize the heroism and service of African-American U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn," the statement said. “Our client has served 13 years in law enforcement and on January 6, 2021, fought against an insurrectionist violent crowd ― no doubt many of them Carlson’s supporters ― to protect the lives of our elected officials, including Vice President Pence.”
It occurred to me the other day that maybe the ailing DOW would influence some of these people to go out and get shots. It’s a pathetic reason but it might work.
The Dow ain’t a living, breathing entity. It’s a man made construct, built on greed and exploitation and as such, has been sick for years. The only thing that keeps it going, is endless inoculations by the poor, through government bailouts.
