And the Republican’ts don’t want high school students to learn about events discussed in the 1619 Project – probably because it might enlighten the whites in this country enough that something positive, right, and proper gets done to help the victims of the racism that has existed here from the start 400 years ago. Instead, they pass laws to keep more and more of these “inconvenient voters” from exercising their rights at the polls.
May the fleas of a thousand camels take up permanent residence in the noses (or perhaps elsewhere) of every politician who has voted in support of the voter restriction laws recently enacted in several states.
On a related note, trustees of the University of North Carolina have failed to approve a recommendation of tenure for Nikole Hannah-Jones, who “merely” won a Pulitzer Prize for the introductory essay she wrote for the 1619 Project. This failure on the part of the trustees is in spite of the recommendation made by the University’s tenure committee and the support for that recommendation from the Chancellor as well as from the Journalism faculty.

Did the Jewish families of those lost in German concentration camps or Japanese in U.S. internment camps ever receive reparation from those countries?

Thanks, Mr. Benson, this is an oft forgotten tragedy. Light should be shed on it often and its details passed down…
