Here’s the thing. Even an inveterate liar with a reason to want to blame someone else for his inability to lead well MIGHT have accidentally told a (partial) truth. The New York Times’ “The Morning” today had a nice summary. The TL/DR of which is:

The Chinese have never really allowed anybody access to records.

The possibility that they’re lying was tarred by the brush of “Trump said it” … and as I said above, he not only lies constantly, he had a REASON to lie about this.

There is still no reason to suppose that the folks in the lab intended to release it, nor that they had been “weaponizing” it.

But it does matter, some, because we, the rest of the world need to know what went wrong so we can try to avoid such errors in the future.

And of course, if the Chinese knew about it earlier, it’s a YUGE loss of face that they might have avoided millions of deaths if they’d just stepped up earlier (as a giant government, there’s really no other downside for the bureaucrats).

Trump has his reasons for lying, and that’s to protect his own POLITICAL A$$! When Trump went head on with Xi Ping, all HELL broke loose. I find it hard to believe that CHINA would stand back and let TRUMP dictate the outcome of this. This is my OPINION, and my OPINION only! When the TARIFFS were fired,Xi Ping took that personal. Not only disrupting CHINA’S economy,But threatening his leadership. I don’t think this was a coincidence. CHINA was threatened and took ACTION! LOOK WHO’S PRESIDENT AND WHO’S NOT!
