    $8 per day sounds more like the 30’s to me. I remember my grandfather talking about working for a dollar an hour during the depression.

    $1 per hour was the minimum wage in the 50’s, but, only for construction or manufacturing.

    Ok everybody I was born in 1946 in 1961 I started to work with my Father at the local saw and planing mill where he was head foreman at that time he was making $1.35 per hour all the other men including myself were making $1.09 per hour. Just in case your thinking I made the same because I was the bosses son your wrong I could work with all the other men and do my share!!!

    My first job paid 50 cents per hour. That’s $4 per day!!!!

    1960 I worked at a riding stable 6AM to 8PM for $25 per week + room & board. Then I went to work for Uncle Sam 24 hours a day for $60 a month.

    During the 30’s $1 a day for 10 hours was not unusual
