My late father was reminiscing about how taking a wrong turn while driving was kind of annoying -but taking a wrong turn on a bike never felt that way at all. As he put it, when you took a wrong turn while riding, it was just ‘another way to get there’ -you really didn’t mind the extra ride.

He was right, and there were a great many times when I’d often just find alternate ways to get to my destination just to break up the monotony or find a new path I’d never ridden down. Never knew what I’d see (or just to see something I hadn’t in a long time). I never really minded, and time took on a different meaning.

I really miss those days, and I really miss riding with my pappy.

The most fun I have on my bike is when I try to get lost. I always end up seeing the best scenery.
