Well, if Roger and Shirley would take the time to gently EXPLAIN in simple terms WHY it’s not possible, maybe Louis would understand and stop hoping…poor kid!
I had a unique situation…my sister and I married two brothers…. I got divorced because he cheated but at every holiday and BD, we were all together….UGH! I could have refused to attend but I didn’t want my kids to feel uncomfortable with the situation. It become easier as time passed! =~#
It is always hard for a child to accept that their divorced parents will not get back together. They see their friends with both parents and wonder why they don’t. A step-father does not always solve the issue. He is the mother’s husband but not the child’s father. A step-father can never replace his real father, no matter how much they try. If both original parents try to raise the child together but apart, the child can still love both equally and not pass on his hurt to his own children.
Since my parents always fought and yelled my entire childhood until I went to college, I used to envy my friends with divorced parents. Weird how often life gives someone else what you want.
