Sexual misconduct allegations made against Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn
Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn is facing allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct by several women who say he put them in uncomfortable situations when he was a college student, with the former classmates detailing to CNN on Monday how the rising star of the conservative right would use “fun” drives as a way to make unwanted advances on them.
Allegations of sexual misconduct by Cawthorn, who at age 25 is the youngest member of Congress, have followed him since he launched his run for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District.
But the claims have gained renewed attention as the freshman congressman’s popularity has steadily increased in some Republican corners following his move earlier this year to Washington, where he has closely aligned himself with some of his far-right colleagues and former President Donald Trump’s lie that the November election was illegitimate.
It’s hilarious watching the left scrambling to make excuses and try to change the subject. Especially funny that a few of the sillier commenters suppose that Cuomo has any chance in the Republican Party. That’s a gob stopper. This has happened before. Remember when David Duke tried to switch from Democrat to Republican? Hah, the Reps wouldn’t even let him in the door. Same would happen with Cuomo. The Reps are much better than the Dems at cleaning their own house and are far more consistent in how they handle accusations and allegations. The Reps expect evidence to be brought forward and let the cards play out as they may, not only for their own but for their political opponents. The Dems will circle the wagons around their own and keep up the defense until the wagons catch fire and there is no viable choice but to abandon ship. This is exactly what happened with Wiener and is in the process with Cuomo.
On the other hand it’s full speed ahead and damn the truth when it comes to attacks on Reps over allegations. Kavanaugh is the prime example here. Ford named four witnesses in her case and every one of them refuted her claims. She provided no proof or credible evidence, only unproven claims and innuendo. She could not even prove that she had even MET Kavanaugh. Yet in the minds of ideological left he’s guilty without proof of any kind. Heck, some of the posts here today are evidence of that. The Dems will never hold themselves to that standard, not even Cuomo. Although in his case there is now photographic evidence of his abuse.
Cuomo looks a bit darker in the cartoon than in his Wikipedia photo, but that might be some process issue.
The good news is, the usual crowd of regimentarians have flocked to comment, so Lisa gets paid, and her family gets to eat. Thank you to all commenters!
