Not all balls are created equally. Rubber balls are for fetching and chewing. Meatballs are for eating and slither down the throat real easily. Snowballs, well, they aren’t much good for anything. They fall apart, as you found out, when you bite them or try to catch them. They aren’t any fun at all unless you are in a snowball fight and your skunkin’ your opponent.
Used to love throwing snowballs for my dog. He was a bit bewildered when they disappeared, but he didn’t hold it against me and always came back for more.

Had a Redbone Great Dane mix that loved to fetch snowballs. Brought them back intact. Tennis ball…came back cut in half and shaved in less than 5 min.
