Nobody would ask friends to a very expensive restaurant and expect them to pay, i bet he pays the bill and was always going to.
There goes the vacation. Kids’ education next. Because heaven forbid we could actually say “I can’t afford it” out loud.
Wait till they get to the point where he offers to let them in on a ‘special deal’ he has lined up.
