I’ve crossed two fords in my life. Fortunately neither was that deep.

I have found whenever I have to cross a flooded stream crossing its always a good idea to wait and watch someone else do it first …

When I was a boy in Western Arkansas, there were many roads that had cement liners on the fords. They were called low-water bridges, but the water ran over. When the water was too deep to cross you just had to take the responsibility of crossing or not crossing. In Eastern Oklahoma, somewhere between Poteau, Ok and Hackett, AR the road entered a wide creek bed. The creek bed was of flat sandstone. I never heard of anyone ever getting swept away in their cars. People seemed to have a little common sense.
