My 8 cousins, all girls, and I were told socks & underwear were the ‘gifts’ given for naughty behavior in our family. We all got toys, but we all got socks and underwear as well just a reminder to us that none of us were perfect.
I still don’t like wearing socks. Even when my feet are cold they feel trapped. I wear them when I wear shoes of course – mostly for hygiene reasons, but I don’t like it. I’d rather have the coal – I can at least make a good fire with that.

Not everyone has a fireplace to put them on. Put them over or around the tree area.
