You could’ve gotten the dog and cat at least from the pound or humane society, or from a friend who had puppies and kittens to give away, or even just as a stray. All 3 of my cats were strays.

My pets let me think I’m in charge. In charge of petting, feeding, emptying cat box, and providing a warm lap upon demand.
Even the fish is mad!
