I like the realism here. Both in depicting whales having to surface to breath, as they are mammals, like us, and in showing the weird things that attach to their bodies over time such as barnacles. “A single humpback whale may carry up to 450 kg (990 lb) of barnacles.” – Wikipedia.
A life under water doesn’t strike me as the greatest business plan for an air-breathing mammal, but contrary to all expectations it seems to work just fine. (Until humans came along.)
