    ^ & ^^^ Hmmm, perhaps parts of Europe? But not in Portugal at least. There we have the standard middle finger salute. V sign palm outwards is the universal V for victory. In the cartoon above I read it as DrC just described: with back of hand facing the viewer, the equivalent of a middle-finger salute but thinking more about it, I think only in UK and some of its former colonies is it an insult? Certainly is one in South Africa & UK which explains why I may have misread it? Not sure about the Netherlands.
