Justice Ginsberg’s dying wish was to be replaced ONLY after the 46th president is installed. Moscow Mitch has, nonetheless, announced that he will put forward the name of the next Trump nominee for the Supreme Court in a very expeditious manner.
If the Senate actually goes against their OWN newly established “precedent” and manages to install a THIRD Trumpian judge, then the democrats will be completely justified in raising the number of Supreme Court justices to at least 11 or 15 once they retake control of the Senate and White House.
Incidentally, there are already “rumblings” that the republicans HAVE to replace Ginsberg because there might be a crisis the Court would need to address concerning the 2020 election!

I don’t recall them using that “argument” in 2016 when they allowed Scalia’s seat to remain vacant until Trump could nominate someone from the Federalist Society’s list of “approved” judges – the Court functions quite well with only eight judges seated on the “Bench” – and will continue to function with 11 or even 17 judges on the Court.
