I’ve had that happen a few years back. The cat saw me wiggle my foot under the blanket and pounced right on it. Her needle like claws went right through the blanket into my foot.
They can’t resist a good wiggle!
Attach a feather to the tail. Possibly it will occupy the instinct.
It was still worth it.
