Front line troops. There’s a fire about 3 or 5 miles from our house that’s been going for about a week. News today is that they have more than 600 workers on a 4000 acre fire that’s only 23% contained… but which, I am very happy to report, did not grow in the last 24 hours. And a whole lot of that is thanks to people who work incredibly long hot sometimes dangerous hours doing incredibly hard labor for a mere wage. (It’s a good wage, mind).
I think most Americans care, including real Republicans. I bet it’s 50/50 fighting these fires. It’s the kool-aid drinking Trumpicans that are so narcissistic, they’d rather see the country burn if it’s “Democrat” … they’ve been led astray by snake oil salesmen like “My Pillow Guy” selling poison to cure covid, or Jerry Falwell jr. teaching morals he wouldn’t follow, or that Trump University, steak, tie, water, wine, tower, fake charity Trump Foundation Guy…
Sorry, California, tRump doesn’t think you’ll vote him back in. The rest of us Americans, the majority of us, care. Sorry so many idiots thought tRump was a good bet back in 2016. It’s a nightmare.
The 2nd and 3rd largest fires in California history are NOW burning. Gov. Newsom added more than 800 new seasonal firefighters jobs this year but that was offset by the loss of about 500 inmate firefighters who got early release due to COVID-19 threats in the prisons. California is getting assistance from as far away as Texas but, after weeks, the fires are not under control. Only an early rain could stop these blazes soon.
I know the feeling. Been wearing my “corona-mask” once a week, in town for groceries. The past week, I had to wear it most days on my exercise walks to filter out the smoke filling our valley. The control tower for our regional airport is a couple miles from the kitchen window…we can see the lights on the building at night. Except for the last week. Nothing, nada.

We should have listened to Trump, and raked up the leaves. Or listened to scientists, and acted to prevent global warming. Pick one.

It’s California’s own fault. Had they voted Republican, they’d be getting federal aid. Maybe now they’ll know better.

Trump would have rushed in to fight the fire if he hadn’t been busy golfing. Bless his heart.
