Especially when he weighs 7 pounds. Fred is about 65 pounds, right?

I’d like to see Fred’s owners try that. It would have to be a joint effort between the two of them if they did.

SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED had visions of being Paris Hilton with her new Mini Pin. The vet weighed her at 17 lbs and we have to feed her special (read expensive and unavailable) doggie food. Lord, Please help me keep the grin off my face.

All my cats have been mutts, and perfectly healthy on Purina. People that brag about their registered whatever invariably, (almost), end up whining about the eye/back/ear/kidney/etc., that breed is subject to. I’m laughing inside. You are not alone, Lew.

An English Basset (like Fred) typically weighs 3 to 45 lbs.

In America, many Bassets are descended from those bred by Basset’s Bassets. Same, in good health and a proper weight for their size, may weight 85 to 95 lbs. My boyhood dog, Mercury Ulysses to the AKC, Useless to the family, won several local best of breed and best of show prizes. He measured 7’3” nose to tail, 24’ at the shoulder, and weighed 80 lbs.
