Poor Bleeker. I feel for him. I startle easily and really dislike high volumes of conversation around me. My husband’s family gathered at Christmas years ago and they always talked loud to be heard, and my quiet voice couldn’t be heard above the din and I was often interrupted in what few conversations I could initiate. Finally, after years of it, I contented myself to sit and listen to the din, sometimes it is better to listen than to speak.
