IMO, It’s not hate at base, it’s fear: These folks are seriously concerned that if they don’t have their “whiteness” to keep them on top, they’ll be recognized… even by themselves… as losers.
How ’bout a game of flag football? We can protest the football players taking a knee to protest Police Violence. It will convince the base that hate is still alive and well, you know, flapping in the wind.
So true, it is next to impossible to ‘change’ a belief, attitude of an adult of hate, of being ‘superior’ etc that is taught to them by their parents, who got from their parents, etc, etc.
I wonder how many pro-flag people realize that the confederate banner wasn’t added to the flag until 30 years AFTER the war was over. It wasn’t added as reminder of “heritage” it was to intimidate the black population.
I grew up in the South. I’m white but I really hated that Civil War-nostalgia crap for the days when (rich) white people had it made. The plantation system oppressed everybody but the owners.
And the other problem is that it’s being roused and exploited and gleefully used by the biggest hater of all of them in the White Hose. Shame on anyone who still supports that lousy excuse for a human being

Is that the creep’s tongue or his red tie flapping in the wind? One stands in the the other, you say? Of course!

But at least now it isn’t state sponsored hate which is waved in everyone’s face all the time.
We must always maintain the separation of state and hate.

Can’t legislate against stupidity nor hatred and bigotry. Continuing education is the answer.

It takes time.. and, in your defense, you had some real rednecks running the state.
