My first job after grad school was for a company that had recently opened a large plant. It was a mile from where I could park to where I worked for the first six months till they opened a new entrance to the building.
When I lived in Venice Beach, I paid an extra $100 a month for an apartment with covered parking space. Otherwise, you spend a great deal of time remembering and locating where you parked your car the night before. Plus, there was a a good chance it might not be there anymore.
