We had a cat who did that, until one of the kids “helped” him through the cat flap in a manner a bit less dignified than he would have liked. Then, whenever he tried this stunt again, if he saw that kid coming, he would change his mind and use the cat flap on his own terms.

Had a friend with an in-door cat, to punish it , he would throw it out-doors.
