When my boys were little, I found sending them to the “penalty box” more effective than a “time out” (What ever it was called, it was a chair in a corner)
Just had to make sure if they mentioned being sent to the penalty box, that people didn’t overreact and think I was locking them in a cage. Best way to do that was to quickly say something like “Yup, just like Big Bob Probert, last night against the Black Hawks”
