That was me at seven. My father bought me an adult first baseman’s glove for my birthday. I could barely lift the glove which resulted in a broken front tooth. The tooth was broken some more at the age of twelve and again a few months later while playing catch. After the last time there was so little left that the dentist pulled it out. I played junior high baseball with it. I took it with me to Africa but never used it. I gave it to another Peace Corps volunteer who was staying for extra year when our two years were up. It has only been in the last couple of years that I realized that it was the glove that caused my broken tooth and not my skills at catching.
