Knowing how Lucy thinks, she probably thinks that by enticing Charlie Brown with a doughnut that he will take the bait, indicating that he isn’t really a “good manager”. She bases that Charlie Brown is not a good manager on the teams losing record; but Charlie Brown is indeed a dedicated manager (e.g. who else would not come out of the rain to finish a kid’s baseball game in order to finish the game). Dedicated manager – yes; good manager – no. Charlie Brown could never keep a manager’s job with his deplorable record!
