Al Gore would be a good one to tutor you in math. May be a little ‘fuzzy math’ but he is good at spelling products from Idaho. Like, what is another word for ‘taters’?

Thank God that “new math” didn’t last very long. I had one year of it in Jr. High, then somehow it disappeared.

New Math: A valiant but failed effort to get kids thinking about math the way real mathematicians think about the subject.

I’m with you Linus. I’m barely past the 12 tables.

I didn’t know what “New Math” was, so I looked it up.

    Now I agree with Linus.

I still have an old math mind. It’s a wonder I finally passed Calculus!

Had to look up new math myself. Improving the way math is taught in high schools is a good idea; trying to feed them university level stuff is a terrible one.

Your only math worry next year will be the batteries in your calculator.

You can’t take three from two, Two is less than three, So you look at the four in the tens place. Now that’s really four tens, So you make it three tens, Regroup, and you change a ten to ten ones, And you add them to the two and get twelve, And you take away three, that’s nine. Is that clear?

gayfatnakedvet, they tried that in the 1970’s, but it never clicked. We were supposed to be totally metric by 1975. We have our own cool measuring system invented by Thomas Jefferson; why change cool?
