I’m reading the historical experiences of the Great Lakes Chippewa/Ojibway tribe:Deep winter snow and gales off Lake Superior (still true today) required a community effort of hunting/fishing and preserving meat and berries, and stockpiling firewood to get each village through. Supply sources (no Amazon.com) were cut off or a long walk (on snowshoes) to quaint, established towns.Their common means of transportation, the canoe, was stored until the lake ice melted. No phone, TV, radio, computer, etc. but they strengthened tribal/family bonds through retelling stories and legends and working together (being available) to make the best of the situation.Boredom didn’t have a chance. Not sure when SAD (and I realize it is a serious condition) showed up in North America.

Must admit, when I think of B. B. I think of The Thrill is Gone. For Howlin Wolf its Killing Floor or Spoonful.

If summer has “dog-days”, what do you call the middle of winter?
