You guys read that comic novel Short and Skinny by Mark Tatulli (creator of Lio and Desmond Pucket)? It’s about Mark making his own parody of Star Wars when he was in middle school. So I prefer to think of Nate’s Star Wars “rip-off” as more of a fun parody..

When I taught Honors Earth Science, An eighth grade student turned in a five-page paper about a selected topic. The plagiarism software (Turn It In) flagged all of it as copied. He told me he misunderstood the assignment (cue eye roll), So I let him redo it for a slightly lowered grade. Next semester, he “misunderstood” another big assignment and wrote an e-mail to the principle complaining about my teaching skills. The priciple and I had a good laugh. What followed wasn’t that funny. :-D
