From what I’ve read of Ergogan and his comments, I think he seriously misses the Ottoman Empire and wishes to bring it back to life. Something like Putin wanting all the territory the Soviet Union had back, plus the territorial claims and wants of Tsarist Russia. Places like Finland, the Balkans and the Dardanelles.
