    I remember reading this sequence as a kid in one of those Peanuts Parade collections. (I think it was “Don’t Hassle Me With Your Sighs, Chuck.”) But re-reading it as an adult with some idea of mental health and how it works, it chills me to the bone…because this is a textbook example of suicidal depression, and Schulz struggled with depression himself all his life. Was he ever tempted to end his own life? If so, maybe writing this sequence was a form of therapy.
