    He was a hypocrite, a racist, a social climber, and had a tendency to be overly sensitive.

    He was also immensely generous, courageous, refused great political power at almost every turn, and was able to unite people of all walks of life to come together for a common cause.

    Interpret this as best you can. shrugs
