We’ve supported Mubarak’s oppression for 30 years because he was willing to sign a treaty with Israel and he has been friendly to US business. It’s a risky move for Obama to withdraw our support now, but, unlike past administrations and narrow-focused policies, the President is trying to deal with the realities of the situation. I wish him good luck, and I hope for a peaceful transition and that Egypt doesn’t explode.

Sadat signed the treaty with Israel. Using Israel, Turkey, Jordan, the U.S., or Brazil may not be the best of models for Egypt or any other country. The population of the nation, like well, even traditional Afghanistan for Afghans, should determine THEIR culture- we have no right to impose our intent on them.
