If he was in the 70s, it would be Che Guevara however that is not what he wants. He wants less white supremacy and less cops shooting unarmed guys because they’re black.
Mr. Lester, you have a problem with NIKE not accepting what is now considered a symbol of racism, but you never once had a problem with white supremacists making that flag a symbol of racism in the first place. Why is that?
99.99% of the population do not view the Betsy Ross flag as symbol of white supremacy, even those who are aware, which aren’t many, that some scuzbags have co-opted a patriotic symbol for their own hateful use. This is PC run amok. I personally will not allow the scum of the earth to dictate what is patriotic and what is not in my world. What if these morons decide that the face of Jesus or the Coca Cola logo are symbols of white supremacy? I’m still going to church and drinking a Diet Coke on the way.
Since when did one qb have enuf power to rule the Nike empire? And when did America become so damned sensitive about our past? History is not all mom, apple pie & daisies in spring! Get over the past, good, bad or indifferent, people, and move on 2 positive issues. We all have speed bumps in our histories,no matter who we are so get over yourselves!!! That is all.
He’s not a socialist. He’s not an atheist, either.
You know, if you had made a cartoon calling this foolish because it’s allowing White Supremacists to co-opt and own our national symbols, I would agree with you. But no – you went for some stupid thing about Fidel Castro, which has absolutely nothing to do with it.
It’s sad when journalists, even if they’re editorial cartoonists, don’t know how and when to use punctuation. It kind of tells us something about education.
This cartoon is spot on. To those who are confused or in denial, here is a link to Kaepernick defending his wearing a t-shirt with Fidel Castro’s photo. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3973344/Curse-Kaepernick-Controversial-quarterback-defends-wearing-Fidel-Castro-t-shirt-HOURS-Cuban-leader-s-death-announced.html
I did support, and continue to support Kapernick’s kneeling during our National Anthem. It was freedom of speech and a protest made in a most respectful way. I do not support the objections to the flag from the late 18th century. While many of our Founders, including the slave owner Jefferson, wanted to free the slaves and make them included in being equal, the conservatives in the South refused it. We could not win against the world’s super power with only 7 colonies. That flag is not a racial statement, but one of hope for a better FUTURE.
We can’t go back and twist or change history. conservatives do that all the time. We can recognize the sacrifices made by the slaves to build this Nation. We can correct the wrongs and injustice that were once legal, but are today reprehensible.
“WE the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…”
Our Founders knew then that their job was not done, but just started. The job is ongoing and in our charge today. We NEED to continue trying to achieve a “more perfect union” regardless how much conservatives fight and refuse it.
Over the weekend, the guy with control over the largest nuclear arsenal in the world fielded a question about Putin saying “western style liberalism is obsolete” with rambling nonsense about California liberals. Then, he answered another one about the busing issue by saying something like “Well, buses are certainly a way to get kids to school”, followed by more gibberish.
The dude has NO IDEA AT ALL what the busing situation was even about, let alone the political impact from it, and thinks Putin was talking about Bay Area hippies or something, but yeah, let’s go with the story that’s really important – what a football player thinks about Nike’s shoes.
Flail your arms all you want, Mikey, but everyone still sees the raging dumpster fire fixing to spread to the building.
This is brilliant advertising. First it was the Kaep ad that led to a GOP boycotts and thousands buying Nike products. Now it’s leaking this criticism by Kaep that has the same boycotting GOP demanding Nike to sell the shoes so all their supporters will buy them “to own the Libs”. Haha! Win-win for Nike either way.
What gets me is that Mike complains about newspapers discontinuing editorial cartoons while expecting to be paid for half-“axed” work consisting of tired old cliches, worn out memes, and minimal art.
I suppose he could join the ranks of those self-published artists that send their work to places like legalinsurrection.com. His work likely would be welcome there.
If the facts don’t match your editorial policy, just make something up. Kaepernick is primarily about racial injustice, which has nothing to do w/ Cuban communism.
It’s good to see Kap standing. Now, next year if he’ll just walk to the booth and VOTE. Can do it barefoot if he likes, but folks as uninformed as he are a primary reason for the Stooge in Chief.

Way to go, Nike. Listen to one nutball’s complaint, and tick off millions of others. What’s next, racially-appropriate knee pads?
