The idea that the government should spend money to do what the citizens need and want is apparently so far from the GOPist reality that it seems like a jolly old myth. Imagine what we could do to benefit the people of our society if we taxed so as to make every taxpayer hurt the same amount (thus much less for the poor, much more for the very rich); if we spent as much money on our military as 1.5 of the next highest spender (saving many $trillions) and if we then spent the resulting income on infrastructure, on education, on health care, on feeding everyone who’s hungry…
