That was one of my thoughts about the snap. There are several species of birds that mate for life and some that will not mate again if their mate dies. The five years still could have led to several species of birds (and whales) going into extinction because the population dropped too low for the remaining ones to find mates. Actually with 50% gone, theoretically with all of the numerous species, it would be possible for one species to see a single gender get wiped out

Yeah. Would be a hard time finding one still with cable especially during migrating season.
