    The problem with government employees having bargaining rights is that the government they are negotiating with doesn’t have a fiscal responsibility, they are just more government employees. Now if the government was required to raise taxes to cover whatever they conceded to it would make more sense. As is now they just kick the can down the road until the city or state faces bankruptcy. Two great examples are Detroit MI and Stockton CA.

    I agree. Wage concessions should be accompanied by less spending elsewhere or raising more revenue. Because of an unelected ‘official’, Grover Norquist, everyone is afraid to even consider raising revenue if it can be called a tax. But what is the tariff, if not a tax on the industries that are affected, that is then passed on to consumers. Free money for govt shenanigans that is not even tied to a particular purpose and they don’t have to quake in their boots if that mouse Norquist says ‘boo!”
