Alternate second panel: Granny sits down. “My gosh, they’re still asking this question? They were trying to figure this one out back when I was a kid!”

Gym is probably the only “subject” I’ve never used in my entire life for any reason. I mean, really, when do you ever have to perform on a balance beam? or get up on the rings? I always wondered why those of us not terribly athletically inclined couldn’t have walked or learned yoga or healthy stretches. . .

As an adult, I actually DO use math, including algebra, science, history, grammar, and pretty much every other subject from school. I suppose you can, if you’re rich, hire someone to do taxes and just take everyone’s word on how much you owe. You can ignore physics (until you decided that your car really can make that turn…), pay someone to clean house and do laundry so that you don’t have to remember which chemicals can poison you, and simply avoid all jobs/careers that require you to know anything at all.

Ignorance isn’t bliss, it’s poverty and early death.

It is simply a case of “Use it or lose it.” I forgotten a lot of useful things only because I had no need of it. However, some of the techniques I learned in high school I still use such as the principle behind algebra.

Hopefully, you will use it in between learning it and forgetting it.

Having a well rounded education instead of a utilitarian one is better for you even if you don’t see it.
