That is one version of what we call The Mother’s Curse. The more extreme version is “When you grow up and have children, I hope they are JUST LIKE YOU!”
My oldest son was something of a problem. I’ve told him that there were several years there when my highest hope for him was time off for good behavior. And, I got my wish. His daughter is pretty awful. The only problem with that is that the brat is my grandchild, which means I worry about what she’s up to about as much as I did with my son.
