I’m not sure who that might be wielding the axe, but a poll by Transparency International was published in Austria a few days ago, or rather, it was more widely reported now as it was actually made public a couple of months ago, which mentioned that around 9 - 10% of Austrians had bribed authorities last year. The EU average apparently is around 5%.

Then again , I could be completly wrong and Pismetrovic could be commenting on corruption elsewhere and not what Franz Fiedler said last week.
It’s a fitting analogy to Congress where the Republicans are trying to solve the debt problem by swearing off earmarks. I don’t approve of earmarks, myself, but they’re a f@rt in a windstorm with regards to our debt problems.
