When I was about five, I noticed that all the covers of our electrical outlets were missing. My mother told me that at about three, I would remove the covers. They figured out that if they left them off, I would leave them alone. I always wondered if that was true until my three year old grandson removed the taillight lens from my motorcycle. I guess it runs in the family.
