^ Did you know that “conservatives” tend to give more to charity? Of course, it’s their money. The “progressives” give other people’s money to charity……
Conservatives gives to other conservatives charities.
They give just as much if you count televangelists as charity!
And I wouldn’t count any catholic institution as conservative; they don’t believe the army, guns, tax cuts or death penalty can solve problems. They are conservative on sex, but that’s about the only thing they have in common with the people I consider conservatives
political Conservatives believe “compassion” should be as Jesus taught in the Bible….person to person….and VOLUNTARY.
IRS rules that “charity giving” includes both religious and civil organizations……but no one gets a “charity deduction” from the IRS income tax by giving to UNorganized needy…person to person.
it is a Rigged system set up by Liberal/Progressives who also prefer Government taking everyone’s tax payments to use as “charity” to those they approve.
The L/Ps prefer the Forced Payment of taxes to voluntary charity.
The L/Ps exclude giving credit to Biblical charity, person to person, and like the posts here (trout, Prof.B), they ridicule and demean church charity as NOT “genuine”….duh!
“political Conservatives believe “compassion” should be as Jesus taught in the Bible….person to person….and VOLUNTARY.”
I looked at how Jesus spoke to the two adulterous women in the Bible (one brought before him to be stoned, and the other who was a 5 time adulterer who was living with a man out of wedlock)… and I look at how political conservatives talk about gays. Then I looked at the above statement. And then I giggled.
Many people like to point out that some of the richest individuals are NOT actually Republican, but are indeed, Democrats. Many of those “uber rich” donate millions and billions of dollars each year. Thus it can be said that Liberals/Progressives are just as charitable as Conservatives.
Conservative Charities tend to come more with stipulations than Liberal/Progressive charities. For example, the Catholic Church of D.C. threatened to stop its charity programs if DC passed marriage equality laws. I’d be interested in seeing examples posted of , say, Liberal/Progressive charities threatening the same if … say, individuals involved were of a particular religion. Certainly not saying it’s not possible.
If we get enough people on the street, they wont have anybody to buy their house’s and pay their ridiculous high bills they charge and they will colapse on themselves.
Frog, check your facts. In another thread, it’s been shown (and you can search the web to verify) that defense spending consumes about 23% of our budget. Medicaire, Medicaid, and SS consume a great deal more than defense spending.
Jade: I’m curious about the quantity of people in both camps who give. Yes, many of the uber rich give massive chunks of cash and many are liberal (See holleywood), and dollars they may compete. But, how many rank-and-file liberals donate to charities compared to the same for conservatives, from middle-class america? I don’t have an answer. Do you?
Please differentiate between those who earn salaries through their labor and the “wealthy” who do not need to work. If I stop working my income is zero, 0, nil, nada.

It’s a myth to see taxes as solely going to the unemployed scapegoats. Over half of the taxes go to national defence.
therefore, it doesn’t make any sense to see taxes as a “compulsory charity.”

the uber rich donate stock that has gone up to a captive charity – so they get to write off the gift but still control the stock
note gov cannot be charitable
