I have a specific group of local friends on facebook (and some family) but the local group makes it easier to keep up with local events than it was with email groups. I just have to deny all the extended distant cousins who would have no interest in my activities than I would have in theirs (why do they even ask??)
I like facebook. It makes it easier to stay in contact wtih people. I have a friend who reconnected with some of her distant cousins on fb and that made her really happy
