    Good morning Vagabonds.

Going to be in the 90’s again today. At least the humidity is down. May have some showers tonight.

Going to prayer meeting tonight and I am leading it. I hope it’s not too hot and people stay home. I don’t know why as the church has A/C.

    Hope everyone stays cool today.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Yesterday was another beautiful day for sightseeing. It was around 80 with relatively low humidity and we took advantage of it. Today is supposed to be around 90 but the humidity is staying low.

We continued part of the battlefield driving tour yesterday. There are actually four battlefields in the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania Court House National Military Park. Yesterday we went to the Chancellorsville battlefield starting at the visitor’s center. We drove the “tour” to 10 different numbered sites plus a few extras thrown in. We spent most of the afternoon doing this and really enjoyed it. The visitor’s center had a short film that told about the battle and the tour let us see where the various events happened. It gave us a real good idea of the scope of the battle, one of the bloodiest of the war. There was one point where the confederate cannon were pointing down a long meadow toward where the union cannon were pointing back up at them. From the union end we could see the confederate cannon because they were on a ridge, but the union cannon were lost in the tall meadow grass from the confederate view point. I don’t suppose that was true when they were firing at each other for over 20 hours.

We also saw the place where Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson was shot in the left arm and right hand by his own men. There are two different monuments marking the spot, not to mention “wayside” signs pointing it out as well. The first monument is a plain boulder monolith about 2 to 3 feet tall with no markings, the other is a marble tower with engravings that was placed later. Jackson’s loss was devastating to Lee. When Jackson died 10 days later, Lee said “I don’t know how to replace him”. While Chancellorsville was a great victory for Lee and the Confederacy, with Jackson’s loss Lee never again had the success he did with Jackson by his side.

Two more battlefields to see today.

    Everyone have a blessed day.

    Howdy Vagabonds

It’s starting out as a sunny day but, a weak cold front is expected this afternoon and may leave rain behind. We can use it.

Couldn’t help but notice that they have changed the comment format, appearance anyway.

I don’t know about you but I’m going to enjoy the day. May God bless.
