Stupid long story short: trunk wouldn’t close on over-sized cargo in my Mercury Sable… used jumper cables to secure, as well as keep the lid from flopping around. Now a running joke when thinking of purchasing large items: “Oh, it’ll fit in the trunk…!!”

A convertible with a back seat is similar to a pickup truck – no height restriction for the cargo.

I use my Aveo like a pickup. You would be surprised how much can be shoehorned in!
