Originally this law protected lynchers from murder charges (stacking the jury with people who would naturally find the defendant innocent). Good on Louisiana on joining the human race though prosecutors use other tricks to get convictions/acquittals without the jury system.
I didn’t even know about this. Good on LA. Startling cooperation by Republicans with this Democratic bill, especially after the SC refused to even hear the suit against non-unanimous verdicts.
