Senator Schumer is merely ACKNOWLEDGING what has been common knowledge for decades – that the drug laws attaching a “stigma” on marijuana usage – that the proscription on ‘pot’ has little to do with protecting the public and EVERYTHING to do with the continued oppression of minorities.
If Congress cared even the tiniest bit about the “health” of the American public, then tobacco would also be classified as a schedule 1 drug!
Please also note that the argument calling ‘pot’ an addictive substance is specious! I WILL admit to the evidence that cannabis IS psychologically addictive, but, then, so, too are coffee, tea, chocolate and a whole host of commonly available substances which the ‘intelligent’ among us would admit probably should NOT be ranked alongside heroin!
And where was Chucky when the Dems had a super majority talking about decriminalizing pot? Oh yeah! Trying to get re-elected again by NOT passing such legislation. Now that his party is out of power he can talk rainbows and unicorns all he wants.
