If only it were like the cartoon showed. The days of “speak softly but carry a big stick” are gone for now. Now it’s “don’t say or do anything because you might offend somebody somewhere”. I can think of nothing that this administration has done to retaliate for anything, whether it’s Iran, N. Korea, Pakistan, or Timbuktoostan.
Beenthere - Your quote from Roosevelt implies that you should talk with your adversaries before you strike. Bush was too intent on being macho to talk to anyone before he rushed us into Iraq.
But like ARod said, what are we supposed to retaliate with, now that our resouces and will have been depleted in two no-win wars?
The Almighty Cerberus says;
How’s your dog, NeoconMan? If he wants more people to eat, I can give him a few souls I harvested last night. Teenaged drunk drivers.
The point of the cartoon is that If Iran attacked the US in some way, we would retaliate tenfold, and they know that, so therefore they have not and will not attack us. Frog missed that point. However, his argument is that we should never retaliate for anything because it will never undo the results of the attack, and that is what is so sad. Roosevelt knew that appeasement doesn’t work, but people like Frog just don’t get it. The lack of a response to the attack on the Destroyer Cole led to the attack on the WTC. The ten-fold response to that attack is the major reason why it hasn’t happened again. Learn from history.

…and what isn’t in the picture? That’s right, the real movers & shakers in Iran are illusionists, experts of distraction.

William Tell he ain’t, but he sure upsets those in the U.S. who grew their “spines” in jello molds.

^Thank God.
So, Tigger, you want to attack Iran? You and what army? Let’s hope you’re at least willing to pay more taxes for it this time.

beenthere; retaliate for what? ou have been attacked since 9/11?
Would retaliation fix anything? Bring back 9/11 victims to life? Fix the economy?
