    Nah. The term “American” is used as a citizen of the United States of America, versus — let us say — the United States of Mexico or the United States of Brasil.

    People who try to correct everybody who calls Americans Americans are just trying to NOT call Hawaiians Americans. (Probably some subtle anti-Obama thing as a way to deny he is an American. Shameful (— or is it “shameless”?).)
