The pollsters were wrong because many Americans were afraid to admit they wanted to vote for Trump. Notwithstanding that, people hear only what they want these days, so the echo chambers reverberate when reality conflicts with their cherished notions of how the world works. The real silver lining in all of this is that, despite his sociopathic narcissism, arrogant bullying, ADHD and so forth, Trump won because he is really neither republican nor democrat. He promised a lot. Let’s see if he can deliver any of it without starting a trade war or a military war. I’m rooting for him to succeed—but I have grave doubts about his emotional and mental stability.
