The first national park, Yellowstone, was signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1872, followed by Mackinac National Park in 1875 (decommissioned in 1895), and then Rock Creek Park (later merged into National Capital Parks), Sequoia and Yosemite in 1890.The National Park Service has been charged with the trust of preserving the natural resources of America. If you love our parks review the record of who you are voting for. Are they soft on business regulations and pollution? Do they protect public lands or want to give them to the highest bidder? Are they “green” or do they want to preserve nature, or do they allow for dumping, drilling and tearing down?
Yes. Thanks for shutting down so stupidly a few years ago. Chasing people off parking areas along side the road so they couldn’t look at carvings in the side of a mountain, placing barricades around statues in public places, etc. etc. etc.
Mr. Blawt: Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove were actually the first “national park” in 1865, but granted to the state of California initially to manage, though US Army troops (Black “Buffalo soldiers”) actually were the first enforcers of protection.
This is the same park service who want to open up miles and miles of wilderness in Washington to motorized vehicles so as to drive out wildlife, faster erode earth banks, pack down earth around trees, and destroy peace for anyone without ear plugs and an oxygen canister.

Think of what the Koch Bros could do with those parks. Vote Republican and find out.

Them National Parks and whatnot are gonna be soooo much better once they are owned by Disney and Mariott, et al.
Who knows? Maybe Trump will get to put his name on a few of them.

We need our National Parks, where else will old white men stand up against the government and play guns?
